A superior fast-track method for the inversion of seismic data

Overview

In spite of publicised benefits, inverted data is not routinely generated. Inversion of seismic data to Acoustic Impedance (AI) is seen as a specialist activity. To overcome this obstacle this algorithm provides a quick, easy to use and stable method which can be routinely included in the exploration geoscientist's workflow. It performs significantly better than traditional fast track methods.

Features

SCI provides a set of customisable charts and a seismic view window. Both are updated in real time allowing the geoscientist to quickly determine the parameters for generating an optimum operator. Using seismic directly from the Petrel software the analysis can be performed rapidly. The saved SCI operator can be applied to the input seismic volume via the SCI process or the Workflow Manager.

Seismic Colored Inversion (SCI) process

The SCI process provides a facility to create an SCI operator and to apply the operator. Creating an SCI operator is achieved by clicking the [Create Operator ...] button to launch the Analysis tool. After an SCI operator has been derived and saved it can be applied here to generate an SCI cube. The saved operator can also be applied via the Workflow Manager.

Seismic Colored Inversion Main Analysis Window

The SCI main analysis window displays various charts which will assist you in deriving an optimum colored inversion operator that can be applied within the SCI process or used in your workflow. The analysis window along with the seismic view window gives you immediate real time feedback as you tweak the various SCI design operator parameters.

Here the seismic view window displays the input seismic data you are using to derive the colored inversion operator. This input seismic data is not affected by anything you do.

Seismic view window displays in real time the colored inversion data of a selected in-line or cross-line. Using this window in conjunction with the main analysis window will allow you to derive an optimum colored inversion operator in an amazingly fast time.
